This guide explains why a different name and surname may appear during signing and what the recipient can do in this situation.
What could cause different name and surname when signing?
When you send a document to a recipient, Signify initially suggests a signature visual with the name and surname specified in the recipient’s details.
The recipient can edit this information during the signing process if necessary.
Why does Signify remember signature details?
When a document is sent and the recipient signs it, Signify stores the signature visual that was used.
If another document is later sent to the same email address or phone number, the system will suggest the last used signature visual.
For example:
- If the recipient once drew their signature, the same visual will be suggested next time
- If they uploaded a signature image, the same image will be suggested again for the next signature
- The system will display the name and surname that were used during the last signing
Why might a different name appear?
This may happen if:
- The same email address or phone number is used by multiple people
- A document was previously signed using different contact
In this case, the system suggests the last used signature visual.
What should the recipient do?
If a different name and surname appear during signing:
- Edit the name and surname in the signature field
- Continue signing using the correct information
The recipient can change the name and surname during the signing process before completing the signature.
