When sending a document through Signify, you can require a signer to complete the document using a Qualified Electronic Signature (QES).
The signer can use an existing qualified certificate from a supported provider, including Smart-ID, Mobile-ID, Estonian ID Card, Trans Sped, CertSign, SimplySign, and others.
If the signer does not have their own QES certificate, you can also enable a One-Shot Signature for them..
Enable Qualified Signature for a signer
Prepare the document and add the recipients as usual.
Before sending the document:
- Find the signer who must use QES.
- Open the signer’s Authentications settings.
- Enable Qualified Signature.
- Complete the remaining document settings.
- Send the document as usual.
When the signer already has a QES certificate
If the signer already has a qualified certificate, you only need to enable Qualified Signature.
When opening the document, the signer will be able to select a supported signing provider, complete the required authentication and confirm the qualified signature.
The available signing methods may depend on the signer’s country.
When the signer does not have a QES certificate
If the signer does not have their own qualified certificate, enable One-Shot Signature in addition to Qualified Signature.
- Open the signer’s Authentications settings.
- Enable Qualified Signature.
- Enable One-Shot Signature.
- Send the document as usual.
One-Shot Signature allows the signer to complete the document with a qualified electronic signature without already having their own QES certificate.
The One-Shot Signature service is provided through ADACOM and is available as a paid add-on. The required One-Shot Signature units must be purchased and available in your Signify account before you send the document.
What happens after the document is sent?
The signer receives the document through the usual Signify signing link.
- If the signer has their own QES, they select a supported provider and authenticate through that provider.
- If One-Shot Signature is enabled, the signer will also have the option to sign with One-Shot QES through ADACOM if they do not have their own qualified certificate.
After the qualified signature is completed, the document continues through the configured Signify workflow.
- Qualified Signature must be configured separately for each signer.
- One-Shot Signature is a paid add-on purchased by the sender.
- One-Shot Signature should be enabled when the signer does not have their own qualified certificate.
- Available QES providers may differ depending on the signer’s country.

Two complimentary One-Shot Signatures are available during the trial period, allowing you to test the full signing process.
After these have been used, additional One-Shot Signatures can be purchased as an add-on.
Does enabling QES change the standard document-sending flow?
No. Prepare the document and add the recipients as usual. You only need to enable Qualified Signature from the relevant signer’s Authentications settings.
Can I require QES from only one signer?
Yes. Authentication settings are configured separately for each signer.
