In-person signing is needed when the signer does not have a smartphone or email, cannot sign remotely, or is present next to you and you want them to sign under your supervision.
With this feature, the document is signed on the spot, in the presence of a witness - ensuring the process is reliable.
How to send a document for in-person signing?
Assign the recipient role as the witness. The witness is the person who will receive the document, open it, and assist the signer during the signing process.
Before sending the document, fill in the following fields:
- Witness’s name and surname
- Phone number or email
- In the bottom field, enter the signer’s name and surname
It is recommended to enable SMS authentication for the signer. This ensures that the person who signed on-site is indeed the one who entered the code.
Place only the fields intended for the signer on the document. The witness acts solely as a facilitator and does not have any fields.
After placing the field, click the "Send" button.
The document will be sent to the witness, who will assist the signer in completing the signature.
What does the witness see when they receive the document?
When the witness opens the document, a notification will appear indicating that the sender assigned them as a witness. Instructions will also be displayed to:
- Hand over the device to the signer
- Observe the signing process
- Assist the signer in completing the process
The witness should click the "Start" button.
After that, a warning will appear indicating that the device should be handed over to the signer.
When the witness hands over the device to the signer, the signer reviews the document and clicks the signature field. At this point, a one-time SMS code is sent from the system, and entering this code completes the signature successfully.
What happens after the signing is completed?
As soon as the signing is completed, Signify records every step of the process - who received the document, when the device was handed over, who entered the code, and when the signature was made. These steps are logged and remain available alongside the document.
Tips for a better experience
- Make sure the witness is present on-site and hands the device directly to the signer.
- Use SMS authentication for additional security.
In-person signing helps you easily and securely obtain a signature on a document even when the signer cannot sign remotely. The process is simple and fast.
